OFP IVF wait times in Toronto, by clinic
Current Ontario Fertility Program waitlist signals for every participating fertility clinic in Toronto and the GTA.
Ontario Fertility Program wait times are the single most-asked, least-published number in Toronto fertility care. Every clinic gets the same per-cycle funding for an eligible patient — what differs is the queue. This page collects every wait-time signal we can verify, updated quarterly. Treat published numbers as a floor: actual time-to-cycle is the published wait plus 4–8 weeks for consult booking, intake, and waitlist placement. The clinics with the shortest waits are not always the lowest-rated; OFP allocation is per-clinic, not per-quality. If you're flexible on location, a slightly longer commute to a clinic with half the wait is one of the highest-leverage trades in this whole decision.
Wait-time signals come from each clinic's published pricing/funding page where available, supplemented by direct outreach. Where a clinic doesn't publish a wait time, we list 'not published' rather than guess. Re-verified quarterly. Last verified May 2026.

How to read this list
Wait time is a noisy signal. It depends on the clinic's quarterly OFP allocation, how many patients reach the eligible-and-ready stage at the same time, and clinic-level operational choices about cohort scheduling. A 'six-month wait' in March can be a 'three-month wait' in July if a cohort cleared faster than expected. Treat the number as a planning estimate, not a guarantee.
Add 4–8 weeks to whatever you see published. That's the time most clinics need between your first call and actual waitlist placement: initial consult booking, eligibility documentation, baseline workup, and the OFP intake paperwork itself. A clinic that lists a 'three-month wait' generally means three months from waitlist placement, not three months from your first phone call.
If you're flexible on geography, a longer drive to a shorter-wait clinic is usually a winning trade. The clinical work is more standardized across OFP-funded cycles than patients expect. Cycle outcomes correlate more strongly with embryology lab quality and protocol fit than with brand-name clinic choice — and shorter waits mean less age decline, which is one of the few outcome predictors that compounds over time.
- What is your current OFP wait, measured from waitlist placement to cycle start?
- How many weeks between my first call and being placed on the OFP waitlist?
- How often does your OFP allocation get extended or topped up mid-year?
- Do you batch OFP cycles into cohorts, or run them rolling?
- What happens if I'm offered an OFP slot but I'm not medically ready that month?
- Is your waitlist FIFO (first-in-first-out) or does clinical urgency move people up?
Frequently asked questions
Why do OFP wait times vary so much between Toronto clinics?
+
OFP funding is allocated per clinic per quarter by the Ontario Ministry of Health, not pooled across the province. A clinic that signs up more patients than it receives slots for that quarter develops a waitlist; a clinic with more allocation than demand can place patients quickly. Wait times therefore reflect supply-and-demand at each clinic, not clinical quality.
Can I be on the OFP waitlist at more than one clinic?
+
Generally no — most clinics require an exclusive waitlist commitment, and the Ministry tracks OFP enrolment by patient. Practically, you should pick one clinic for OFP and commit. If your wait is intolerably long, ask the clinic to transfer you to a different participating clinic with a shorter queue, or pay privately at the original clinic.
Does the OFP wait time include the wait for an initial consult?
+
No — almost universally, the published 'OFP wait' starts from waitlist placement, which itself comes after the initial consult, eligibility documentation, and baseline workup. Plan for 4–8 weeks between your first phone call and the start of the published OFP wait.
What's the fastest OFP-funded IVF path in Toronto?
+
If speed is your priority, call three clinics with the shortest published waits this quarter, confirm their current actual waits in your initial conversation, and book the soonest available initial consult. Choosing a slightly less-known clinic with a 3-month wait usually beats a brand-name clinic with a 10-month wait, especially over age 35 where time-to-cycle materially affects outcomes.
Will OFP funding get expanded in Ontario?
+
There's been ongoing public discussion about expanding OFP — increasing the funded-cycle limit per patient, raising the age cap, or including additional treatments like medications. As of our most recent verification, the program structure remains one funded IVF cycle per lifetime with no medication coverage. We update this page when policy changes.
