About

First Steps Fertility Clinic is a North York–based fertility practice led by Dr. Fay Weisberg, a Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecology specialist with nearly three decades of experience in women's health. Located at 4025 Yonge Street, the clinic offers a focused range of fertility services to patients across the Greater Toronto Area, including IVF, IUI, ovulation induction, egg freezing, therapeutic donor insemination, and pre-implantation genetic testing (PGS/PGD). As a participating clinic in the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP), First Steps offers government-funded IVF cycles to eligible Ontarians, including embryo transfers — though medication costs remain the patient's responsibility.

The clinic is openly inclusive of single parents and same-sex couples, with a dedicated family-building pathway for single women, gay couples, and anyone using donor sperm. Patients can self-refer through the clinic's online intake form or be referred by their family physician — no doctor referral is required to get started. Beyond core fertility care, First Steps integrates complementary services such as on-site acupuncture with a registered TCM practitioner and offers Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for endometrial health alongside Dr. Weisberg's affiliated FemRenew gynaecology clinic.

With a small-practice model centred on direct physician access, patient education, and individualized care plans, First Steps Fertility appeals to GTA patients looking for a more personal alternative to Toronto's large-volume fertility centres.

Treatments & Pricing

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination using prepared partner or donor sperm. Often combined with ovulation induction to support couples facing mild male factor or unexplained infertility.

IVF

Full IVF cycles with monitored ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, ICSI when needed, and frozen embryo transfer. The clinic does not perform fresh transfers — all embryos are frozen at day 5 or 6 and transferred in a later prepared cycle.

Egg Freezing

Egg (oocyte) freezing using vitrification, available for elective fertility preservation as well as for patients facing chemotherapy or radiation. Cycle takes roughly 4–6 weeks including 10–14 days of stimulation.

Embryo Freezing

All embryos created through IVF are frozen at day 5 or 6 and stored for use in a later transfer cycle, since the clinic does not perform fresh embryo transfers.

Fertility Preservation

Egg freezing offered as an option for women who want to preserve fertility for the future, whether for personal reasons or ahead of medical treatment that may affect ovarian function.

Ovulation Induction

Medication-supported cycles (oral agents and injectable gonadotropins/FSH) to stimulate egg development. Closely monitored with ultrasound and bloodwork, and often paired with IUI.

Sperm Donation

Therapeutic Donor Insemination using screened donor sperm from regulated Canadian-compliant sperm banks. Patients meet with a reproductive counsellor as part of the decision-making process.

Genetic Testing (PGT)

Pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS) and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) available through the IVF program for patients with advanced maternal age, recurrent loss, repeated IVF failure, or known single-gene conditions.

Medical Fertility Preservation

Egg freezing offered for patients facing chemotherapy, radiation, or other medical treatments that may impair future fertility.
